The City of Pueblo, Colorado is seeking individuals or a team of artists to create monumental gateway sculptures to enhance the new Interstate 25 Dillon Drive Bridge, Exit 104. The goal is to emphasize the theme of “Pueblo Gateway to the Southwest” on the north entry to Pueblo, Colorado. The monumental pieces approximately 45 feet tall shall be installed in two existing roundabout islands constructed as part of the Dillon Drive Bridge project. The sculpture foundations design and construction costs will be required to be integrated into the sculpture selected. Only artists/teams residing in the southwest states of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah will be eligible for the Call.
The City of Pueblo is seeking an artist and artist team made up of artists, licensed engineers, landscape architect and/or planners with expertise in creating outdoor public art that can withstand the Southern Colorado’s’ extreme climate conditions. The sculptural monuments are envisioned to be seen and read from a distance as one enters and exits the City to the north and from the roundabout at street level. Lighting should be considered as an enhancing component of the piece. The aesthetic of the existing bridge structure should also be considered. The proposed pieces should evoke the theme of Pueblo as the gateway to the southwest.
