PUEBLO, Colo. — Second Saturday Open Studios at Arts Alliance Studios (107 S. Grand Avenue) begins at 2 p.m. on May 13. One creative who works at Arts Alliance Studios hosts this event each month. May’s host is Bridged by Design, a collaborative studio spearheaded by painter Caitlin Jimenez. Other participating studios will offer interactive activities and art for sale during Second Saturday.
Enjoy works by local artists in Bridged By Design’s Earth Day show, including Caitlin Jimenez, Molly Moreschini, Eddie Doyle, Mary Lou Masonet, Albert Pachak, Jessica Eve, Daniel Falsetta, Arley Woodty, Scarlett Latka, Viktor Ortiz and Jamie Moon. A drum circle jam will begin at 6 p.m. Bring your drums, other instruments, singing voices, dancing shoes and hula hoops and join in! All ages welcome.
A raku firing sponsored by All Clay a.k.a. Cristine Boyd will take place at 2 p.m. in the courtyard. Buy, glaze, and fire a pre-made piece for $15. You may also bring in your own bisqued piece and fire it—prices vary.
Join us as we put the finishing touches on the recently completed mural and vertical garden wall at the Studios by painting the troughs and planting hops in them from 2 to 5 p.m.! A reception for the project will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Local artists Chris Bryant and Daniel Levinson collaborated to design and paint the mural, with support from the Colorado Garden Foundation, Growing Pueblo’s Future, Keep Pueblo Beautiful, Southern Colorado Services & Recycling, Lowe’s – South Pueblo, Herb Chavez, Shelter Construction, Flow Right and CSU Extension – Master Gardeners.
Soulga yoga studio and Nava Peace Tribe will be hosting a mala-making workshop! Starting with personal chakra and angel card readings, the tribe will help you to pick your perfect stone to build your very own mala. We will take you through the journey of assembly as we explain how and why we use malas with a special kirtin to spark the night and close the ceremony as we knot our new creations. The class is $65 and advance registration is required. Call (719) 582-4180 for information.
